While at Holt Senior High School during one of my student internships, I worked with an upperclassman botany class. The curriculum for the year covered an assortment of concepts including plant taxonomy and evolution, plant structures and functions, plant nutrition and health and more.
The unit plan, handouts and students work that I have posted here are from the section on agriculture and environmental science. The entire unit began with the following question being posed "Which is more environmentally friendly? Soil based agriculture or hydroponics?" As the unit progressed, students gained knowledge to help them answer this question. The unit, in total, took approximately two weeks of 50 minute class periods.
